Answer: The ZED scheme is an initiative by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, designed to encourage manufacturing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt world-class quality standards. The goal is to produce “Zero Defect” products that have “Zero Effect” on the environment, ensuring sustainable and globally competitive manufacturing practices.
Answer: Any manufacturing enterprise registered with the Ministry of MSME through the Udyam Registration portal is eligible to apply for the ZED Certification. Currently, the scheme is focused on the manufacturing sector, and enterprises can apply for Bronze, Silver, or Gold levels based on their operational readiness.
Answer: The Government of India provides substantial financial assistance to reduce the cost of certification. Micro enterprises receive up to an 80% subsidy, Small enterprises receive 60%, and Medium enterprises receive 50%. Additionally, there is an extra 5% subsidy for MSMEs owned by Women, SC/ST entrepreneurs, or those located in NER, Himalayan, LWE, Island territories, or aspirational districts.
